About Red Sea Shipyard
A maritime heritage carried forward through generations of shipbuilding in Egypt.
01 | Our history
More than a century at sea.
Just 2 km south of Safaga, Red Sea Shipyard spans 250,000 m², naturally sheltered by Safaga Island and the Red Sea Mountains. We specialize in the construction and repair of yachts, workboats and commercial ships, with capacity for over 100 yachts, a 25,000 m² drydock, a 600-ton slipway and an 850-ton crane. Hangars exceeding 11,000 m² and one of the region’s largest fiberglass factories — 55,000 m² — are supported by extensive workshops for carpentry, metalwork, welding and mechanics. Equipped with CNC, laser and plasma technology, our skilled team provides complete construction, refit and repair services with direct access to spare parts and equipment.
In 2021, SRSS partnered with the Suez Canal Authority to build 20 tugs and 10 fishing vessels, all class approved — reinforcing our position as a leader in the Egyptian and Middle Eastern maritime industry.
History
The El Dougeshy family has deep roots in Egypt’s yachting industry, dating back to Muhammad Ali Pasha’s military fleet. Its Alexandria workshops, established in 1910, built the Saudi Coast Guard fleet in 1952 and Lake Nasser’s fishing fleet in 1962, and rebuilt rocket launchers after the 1973 war. Hurghada Shipyard followed in 1980, founded for private and tourist yachts. To meet growing demand, Red Sea Shipyard was established in 1999 as a 92,000 m² hub for yacht construction, maintenance and innovation — today spanning over 250,000 m², specializing in the construction, repair and refit of all vessels at sea.
